Gree Electric achieved total operating income of 90.976 billion yuan in the first half of 2018, and total air-conditioning sales increased by 14.30% year-on-year

Gree Electric’s semi-annual performance report disclosed on August 31 showed that in the first half of 2018, it achieved total operating income of 90.976 billion yuan, an increase of 31.50% over the same period of the previous year, and achieved a net profit of 12.806 billion yuan attributable to shareholders of listed companies, an increase from the same period last year. 35.48%, basic earnings per share was 2.13 yuan, an increase of 35.67% over the previous year.

According to industry online data, the total sales of air conditioners in China in the first half of 2018 increased by 14.30% year-on-year, ranking first in the growth rate of all household appliances categories. According to data from Zhongyikang's terminal, in the first half of 2018, the retail volume of air conditioners increased by 16.60% year-on-year, and the retail sales increased by 19.80% year-on-year. It was the only major appliance category that achieved double-digit growth. Gree Electric ranked first with a share of 21.90%.

Gree Electric said that in recent years, with the tightening of energy conservation and environmental protection policies, as well as consumption upgrades and product intelligence trends, the proportion of inverter air conditioners in the company's product structure has greatly increased, resulting in a substantial increase in the company's demand for air conditioning chips. At present, the company's chips mainly rely on imports. In 2017, chip imports amounted to billions of yuan. With the company's development, the demand for chips will further increase. Gree has mastered all the core technologies needed to manufacture air conditioners except air conditioner chips. In order to further improve the company’s comprehensive competitiveness, voice in the air conditioner industry, and cost control capabilities, the company has independently developed air conditioner chip design technologies in recent years. There has been a certain accumulation of technology.
