Chinese robot police street patrol can sniff bomb shock suspects

Hong Kong media said that China has developed a robotic policeman who will patrol public areas such as banks, airports and schools. The robotic policeman can sniff out the bomb, grab the suspect with mechanical forceps, and get an electric shock.

According to reports, military researchers behind the project said the police will begin patrolling public places.

According to the report, the robot called "AnBot" was developed at the National Defense Science and Technology University in Changsha, Hunan. The prototype was finally made public at a high-tech fair held in Chongqing last month.

A senior official of the China Security Association, a trade group under the Ministry of Public Security, said: "We are very interested in AnBot."

“In the early stages, it was difficult to estimate the size of the police robot market , but according to what I know, this market is over 10 billion yuan.” The official said that the price of AnBot is not clear, but if the manufacturer can control Under 100,000 yuan, "the sales volume will be very large."

Xiao Xiangjiang, leader of the development team of the National University of Defense Technology, said that AnBot had been tested in a military camp, airport and museum in Changsha and had achieved "very positive" user feedback. This robot that moves through the wheels can patrol continuously for eight hours with a maximum travel speed of 18 kilometers per hour. Its camera recognizes and tracks the face, is equipped with sensors that detect explosives, drugs and weapons, and can remotely remotely transmit electric shocks through mechanical clamps to subdue targets.

Professor Shi Zhongzhi, a well-known scientist who advocates the use of robots in security situations, said that the scope of the robot's responsibilities may be limited: "They can only perform specific law enforcement duties for specific objects in a specific environment. In real life, there is no human guidance, They won't work."

He said: "Many soldiers and security personnel work in hard environments beyond the imagination of ordinary people, and safe robots will end this pain."
