The U.S. Department of Justice stated that following the evaluation of the above-mentioned patent acquisition, the Ministry of Justice found that any purchase transaction is unlikely to have a substantial impact on reducing market competition, and therefore decided to approve the above transaction.
The U.S. Justice Department also stated that during the investigation, major competitors such as Google, Apple, and Microsoft made promises regarding key patents in the industry. Apple and Microsoft stated that they will abide by the principle of fairness, reasonableness, and equality in collecting key industry patent fees, but Google has not explicitly made similar commitments from Apple and Microsoft.
