Polaris room level tracking
The highlight of the conference was Polaris, a self-developed binocular laser space location solution with an accuracy of 1 mm, supporting room-level tracking and multi-person use. The official said that it has more than 10 patents for laser technology inventions.

Lei Feng.com: What is the positioning principle of Polaris?
Chen Chaoyang:
In simple terms, we call it binocular. Just like the monocular and binocular in the camera, the monocular camera has depth and the binoculars have no depth. If the binocular camera is to track an object, only one of the tracking points above is sufficient. Like Oculus, it was tracked with a monocular camera early, so the helmet was covered with dense points.
Of course, we use the laser tracking method. The difference with Lighthouse is that there are three motors in one base station and two motors in Vive.
The Polaris consists of two base stations, each with an array of infrared LEDs and three rotating infrared laser emitters with different axes of rotation. At the beginning of each cycle, the rotating laser transmitter sweeps the entire space in order, and the pace is strictly coordinated.
Three laser emitters build three laser faces. Accurately modulating their angles, each two intersecting faces intersect in a straight line, and the two intersecting straight lines have only one intersection point, so one point can be directly determined accurately.
The Lighthouse needs to see four points at the same time, the projection of the four points in the plane in space, and the three-dimensional projection to reverse the three-dimensional coordinates and posture. The six-element equation finds the unknown, and we are the ternary equation to find the unknown.
So binocular actually means that we have constructed two horizontal and vertical laser planes to find the coordinates, each intersecting surface is a straight line, and the two intersecting straight lines have only one intersection point, so we can directly determine a point directly.
