The sale of Osram's sale of Roundmans to the Chinese consortium was completed and effective on March 3, 2017.
Prior to this, both parties have been approved by all relevant regulatory authorities. The final amount of the transaction is approximately EUR 500 million. OSRAM will also receive up to €100 million in patent license payments from the buyer team for the use of its trademark rights in the next few years.
Previously, the OSRAM Board of Directors conducted an in-depth evaluation of the strategic decision-making of the general lighting fixture business and unanimously passed the resolution of the Landevance sale. Dr. Olaf Berlien, CEO of OSRAM Licht AG, said: "The successful completion of this transaction is an important milestone in the strategic transformation of OSRAM. OSRAM and Mulinsen reach strategic cooperation
The OSRAM Supervisory Board passed the sale proposal of Landwells on July 26, 2016. The buyer of Landwells is a Chinese consortium that includes strategic investment company IDG Capital (IDG Capital), China Lighting Enterprise Mulinsen Co., Ltd. ("Mullin") and financial investor Yiwu State-owned Assets Operation Center (referred to as "Yiwu State Capital").
Through this sale, OSRAM has taken an important step in the implementation of the three pillars of automotive and specialty lighting (SP), lighting system solutions (LSS) and optoelectronic semiconductors (OS). Through this transaction, OSRAM and Mulinsen also reached a strategic cooperation intention, and Mulinsen will purchase LED chips from Osram's new plant in Kulim, Malaysia.
