However, the Airbus concept car Pop Up is different. Specifically, Pop Up is similar in nature to Lego. It adopts a modular design and consists of three main parts. The first part is the passenger compartment for carrying passengers. Both upper and lower parts of the passenger cabin can be combined with other modules. For example, after adding a four-axis flight module like a drone at the top, it can be used as a helicopter. At the bottom, you can connect the driving module and then you can drive on the road like an ordinary car. However, it should be noted that when the flight module is taken off at the same time, the driving module at the bottom will be left on the road. Therefore, Pop Up does not switch between two states like a traditional flying car, but chooses one of them.
Although this conversion may seem strange, Pop Up is not intended for private users. Airbus said that in the future it will cooperate with Uber or Lyft to develop a new travel service model that integrates taxi services, autonomous driving technology and flying cars. Another difference from PAL-V is that currently Pop Up is still in the conceptual stage. Airbus has not yet produced a prototype product. Airbus said it hopes to make this idea a reality in the next seven to ten years.
