Power battery is a key component of electric vehicles. At present, most of the power battery and BMS systems of car companies rely on external procurement. As a result, a very important issue facing car companies is how to manage suppliers. The core is how to deal with different Consistent management of battery-related products from supplier sources, including hardware consolidation and modularization, and software algorithms and data analysis. This kind of management directly affects the safety, durability and power of the battery, and directly affects the safe and stable running performance of the electric vehicle. At the same time, it has a great influence on the after-sales maintenance of the automobile. This paper discusses the management of power battery systems from the perspective of multi-vendor product management, especially the importance and impact of this problem in the entire life cycle of the entire vehicle.

1) General Motors
GM has tried a lot of mass production projects on lithium battery systems and tried all kinds of technical routes. As shown in Figure 1, GM's electric vehicles have different battery systems with different battery cells, as shown in Figure 2.

In fact, for GM, it is very troublesome to manage these battery systems with different specifications, because all kinds of battery cells are very different, but for every GM, each model is fixed by one. The supplier to do it.

If we take a hard look at the configuration of the battery management system, it may be more complicated. It includes both a fully integrated BMS master and a distributed BMS system. GM's entire electrification team actually borrowed the company's EE hardware resources to complete the hardware development of battery electronics, and then distributed it to external suppliers. GM put its main focus on the core algorithm of BMS. We can see that the basic functions of the power battery system are well defined, and the specific configuration of some functions, especially the core function configuration, is the leading company, as shown in Table 2. In this process, the threshold of the control algorithm adjusted by estimating the life of the battery is the core of the after-sales of the entire power system.
In general, GM used to consider the problem in terms of vehicle models in all directions. Each model has a relatively individualized power battery system, so various systems are deployed based on various models. The electrification business does not consider consolidation and modularity in hardware, while software has taken many measures to ensure the safety and longevity of the battery.
