RIM $2 Million to Encourage the Development of BlackBerry 10 Applications

According to foreign media reports, RIM announced this week that it will raise the total bonus of the last Port-A-Thon developer event to 2 million US dollars.

The purpose of this activity is to encourage developers to port applications from other mobile platforms to the BlackBerry 10 platform. For every app that is approved by RIM to enter the Blackberry World App Store, developers will receive a $100 bonus, with a maximum of 20 apps per developer. In addition, developers who submit 5 or more apps will receive a limited edition BlackBerry 10 phone.

It is reported that the BlackBerry 10 mobile phone will be released at the end of this month. RIM hopes to use the Port-A-Thon campaign to strengthen the application ecosystem. This week RIM announced that in the most recent Port-A-Thon event, developers submitted more than 15,000 applications in 37.5 hours. Although these applications have not all been approved, they are still a positive signal.
