ST-Ericsson announced that the ThorTM M5730 modem will be used in Sharp's three smartphones released in Japan. Featuring low power consumption, this highly integrated 21Mbps Thor modem allows consumers to feel free to surf the Web at high speed and get rid of the constant worries of charging the phone.

In terms of size, power consumption and thermal performance, the Thor M5730 brings many improvements to the 21Mbps modem market, enabling simultaneous 21Mbps downloads and 5.76Mbps upload data transfers. When used with application processors, independent flash memory can be avoided. .
The AQUOS PHONE 102SH from Sharp and the Sharp AQUOS PHONE SH-01D from DOCOMO are now available. Another Softbank Sharp AQUOS PHONE 104SH is expected to be available in the spring of 2012.
