Lucid VR and RED Collaborate to Develop New 180-degree 3D Camera

Lucid VR, a maker of 180-degree LucidCam VR cameras, recently announced a partnership with camera company RED to develop a 180-degree 3D camera for shooting 8K video and images.

This RED camera allows users to capture 8K video and pictures and convert them in real-time to RED's 4V (holographic) file format while allowing them to "adjust the lens distance like a professional for 3D focusing and zooming."

Lucid VR said that the camera can also be compatible with RED's new holographic cell phone, RED Hydrogen One, which enables users to watch 3D/4V content in the field or later in a similar manner to the viewfinder without the need for VR/AR heads. You can view the shooting file. In this way, the video and images captured by the camera can be viewed on the display as well as on the VR and AR heads.

The appearance of the new camera retains the previous design of RED, but it includes two 4K cameras, uses a splitter to capture and convert the captured image output into 8K 4V (.h4v) format.

Luc Jin, CEO and co-founder of Lucid, said: "In cooperation with RED, we can combine our own 3D technology with high-quality hardware to create a camera that meets the needs of users."
