Lonworks (LocalOperaTIngNetwork, Local Operation Network) is an open, fully distributed monitoring system dedicated network platform technology. With its unique features, it has become one of the most powerful and market-efficient buses in all existing fieldbus networks. Its technology has been adopted by many national norms in China. It uses a large-scale integrated neuron chips with distributed control and communication networking functions to form various intelligent monitoring nodes, and each node constitutes a fully distributed local operation through a network transceiver (TranReceiver) and network communication media. Lonworks technology is actually a measurement and control network technology, specifically an industrial control network technology, also called fieldbus technology. It can easily realize the networking of field sensors, actuators, meters and so on. Lonworks' core technology is a three-bit 8-bit CPU neuron chip (NeuronChip) with both communication and control functions, and the Lontalk protocol and 34 common I/O control objects. It adopts the complete seven-layer communication protocol in the IOS/OSI model, adopts the object-oriented design method, and Lonworks technology calls it “network variableâ€, which simplifies the design of network communication into parameter setting. This not only saves a lot of design work, but also increases the reliability of communication.
The maximum rate of Lonworks communication is 1.25 Mbit/s (effective distance is 130 m), and the maximum communication distance is 2700 m (twisted pair, communication rate is 78 kbit/s). The total number of nodes can reach 3200.
The transmission medium of the network may be twisted pair, coaxial cable, optical fiber, radio frequency, infrared, power line, etc., and different transceivers and routers for different communication media.
